Cranberry-Pomegranate and Orange Spritzer

In the cooking class I took with my Mom, we were served a drink recipe while we made our other delicious appetizers. This is ridiculously simple, but so refreshing! And with Spring just around the corner I think it would make a perfect non-alcoholic punch for any party (but a little vodka in there wouldn't hurt anyone either... ha!).

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups cranberry-pomegranate juice, chilled

  • 2 cups diet lemon-line soda (7-up), chilled

  • 2 cups diet grapefruit soda (Fresca), chilled

  • 1/2 cup orange juice

Directions:

  • Combine ingredients and serve over ice.

  • Garnish with an orange wedge.

  • This makes about 8 servings.

God Bless America... and jello shots too!

Ahhhh, the Fourth Of July. It's one of my favorite holidays. It's a great day to spend with your friends and family while also giving thanks for those who were responsible for giving us our Independence. Of course I love the parades and the fireworks, but I always take a moment to remember that this isn't just another paid day off of work, it's something bigger...

But since it is a paid day off of work, Drew and I always throw our big annual Freedom Bash!

So we round up all of our friends and get a little loose over at our house. There is always tons of meat and corn on the grill, plenty of competition (bags in the backyard, volleyball in the frontyard, a little basketball up and down the driveway...) and jello shots. Yes, jello shots. You're never too old for jello shots!

Although I am still learning my way around kitchen, I have had this recipe perfected since my ol' college days!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • 1 cup vodka

  • 1 three oz packet of jello

Directions:

  • Place the packet of jello mix in a bowl

  • In a pot, boil water over stove

  • Pour boiling water over jello and mix with a spoon until disolved

  • Let water/jello mixture sit until it is room temperature. Once cool, add vodka.

  • Now pour that delicious mix into disposable cups and put in the fridge for at least 4 or 5 hours until firm

Keep in mind that this recipe is just for the smaller size (3 oz) packages of jello. For a big party, you want to double, even TRIPLE, this. For this recipe I used Berry Blue and Strawberry.

That's it! Simple, easy, and a huge crowd pleaser.
