I'm pretty sure this recipe in some variation has been around for ages. I haven't made (or had) this in years but it seemed like the perfect snack for a chilly day of football.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 blocks of Mexican Velveeta cheese. There are big blocks and small blocks. I'm talking about one and a half of the small (1 lb) blocks.
- Salsa. I think I originally used about 1 cup. Then I added a little more to get the spice and consistency that I wanted.
- 1 pound ground beef.
- Taco seasoning
Directions:
- Brown ground beef just like you would if you were making tacos. Add taco seasoning and set aside once ready.
- Cut cheese into cubes, throw in the crock pot.
- Add salsa and cooked/seasoned ground beef.
- Now set it and forget it! At some point you will need to check on it and give it a good stir.
- Serve with tortilla chips (blue for the Bears!) and enjoy.
It's not much to look at, but people kept coming back for more. And why wouldn't they? It's delicious!

I've got a similar recipe on my blog and I don't care that it uses processed cheese. As long as it's delicious and my masses like it I'm sharing!
I've never seen Mexican Velveeta though - I bet it's great for dips!
This looks so yummy! I've been looking for a new dip to try for football games. This one might be it.
Unfortunately the Bears lost so I am done with football parties for the year, but this will be the first thing I try when I have the oppportunity. Yum!
