Bake For Hope

A few months ago I stumbled upon Bake For Hope and immediately knew I wanted to get involved. Not only did I think it necessary to represent Iowa for this national event, but it hit me much deeper as I've had friends battle on both the survival and loss side of breast cancer. To me, this was an opportunity to do much more than just make cookies.

So I reached out to friends for support in baking and they reached out to friends and there friends reached out to friends... pretty soon their were over 40 volunteers baking for the cure! There was even a class of elementary school students who donated goodies too. What an incredible sense of community, bringing complete strangers together for a bigger cause.

The planning began... and after I secured a time and location I put together a flyer to distribute:

And before I knew it, it was the day before the bake sale. My house was buzzing as people dropped off baked goods and treats! Suddenly my entire dining room and kitchen smelled like a sugar factory... it was amazing!

And the next morning, I got to work.

My goal was $500... And with sales reaching $949 I was more than thrilled with how everything turned out. Good food for a good cause. What could be more simple (and delicious) than that?
