20 pounds of potatoes?

I'm sure we've all done it. We are about to start dinner and we realize at the last minute that we're missing something that we need. Well fortunately my husband wasn't quite home from work so I called him and asked him to pick up some potatoes at the store. He said, "Will do!" and that was that. Or so I thought.

I don't know if I was letting the dog outside, in the other room, or downstairs in the basement, but somehow I managed to miss his call. Apparently he was calling to ask me what kind of potatoes and how much to get....

So he walks in the door 10 minutes later with a FIFTEEN POUND BAG of russet potatoes and another FIVE POUND bag of red potatoes. Wow. What the hell am I going to do with TWENTY POUNDS OF POTATOES!
Get busy on some new potato recipes, that's what.

So here is the first installation. Can you come up with a name for these for me? I appreciate any suggestions :)

Ingredients:
  • 5 red potatoes, cut into cubes
  • 1 TBSP honey
  • 2 TBSP melted butter
  • 3 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • salt and pepper

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 450.
  • Put cubed potatoes in a large bowl. Mix honey and butter together, then drizzle over potatoes.
  • Shake the rest of the ingredients over your potatoes and toss well too coat
  • Add your potato mixture to coated baking sheet and pop in the over for about 25 minutes or until golden brown. And don't forget to stir them once or twice during the process to make sure they all get crispy on the outside.

These were SO GOOD. Drew said he thinks he likes them better than his previous favorite, mexi-fries. They had a nice spice to them but the honey gave a little bit of sweetness to each bite. Totally yummy.

But what exactly do you call them???

These look fabulous! Not sure about the name, maybe something like honey spiced potatoes. No matter what you call them, I would eat them :)
